1. Use of Personal Data

To use Happy Puppy, registration is necessary, which is done by providing your email address. We need the email address to confirm your registration and to inform you about activities in your profile. After registration, we will send you an email. You can use the link or the temporary password contained in it to confirm the registration. Access to your user account is through your email address and the password sent to you. Passwords are stored encrypted and are not visible to us. You can change your password to one of your choice at any time in the settings.

During registration, we ask for personal data that you actively provide to us. This includes salutation, name, date of birth, and address. We need this information to verify that you are a real person living at the specified location. Before you can contact other users, you must confirm this information by sending us an ID and a document for address verification. After verification, these documents will be immediately deleted from our server for your safety. The address is also used to determine and display distances to other profiles. However, your full name or exact address will never be shown to other users, only the postal code and the city.

If a profile is created during this registration as a dog owner and/or so-called dog friend (a person who likes to spend time with a dog but does not want to get one themselves), additional mandatory and voluntary information is requested, which is publicly visible. This information includes interests, photos, description, details about the dog, and other information that can be useful for finding a suitable dog-sharing partner.

If you communicate with another user through our internal mailbox, the content of these messages will be visible to you and the affected user. If you add a profile to your favorites, this will also be visible to the affected user.

Each access is logged with usage data transmitted by the browser used and stored in log files. During each visit, we may collect data about the networks you are connected to, the devices used, IP address, browser version, URL from which you accessed our site, date, time, and length of visit, to the extent necessary and in accordance with applicable law.

If paid services are used, data necessary for processing the purchase, particularly account data, credit card data, or a connection to a PayPal account, will also be requested.

Your data will be used to provide the services you requested, to improve and measure our services, and to detect any potentially prohibited activities.

2. Data Security and Retention

Happy Puppy takes security seriously and makes every effort to protect its users' data from unauthorized access. A differentiated system of access permissions and technical safeguards such as SSL encryption and firewalls ensures high data security. However, it is the user's responsibility not to handle their data carelessly and to choose a secure password, which we store encrypted.

Communication between users is facilitated through an internal mailbox on the website. The email address, exact address, and last name of the user are not made accessible to other members. However, the distance to other members is calculated based on your address and shown to them, which can give other members an idea of your approximate location. Tracking other members using this data and without their consent is prohibited, but cannot be completely ruled out. The user decides which data to disclose when contacting other members.

3. Disclosure of Personal Data to Third Parties

Happy Puppy will only pass on your data to employees or external service providers if they need to know about it to process your requests or fulfill the service of Happy Puppy and the necessary consents have been given. Personal data will only be disclosed to third parties for other purposes if we are legally obliged to do so, there is an illegality that we can help to clarify, or it is done with your explicit permission. There is no sale or other unauthorized disclosure of your data to third parties.

Shop: We process the data of our customers to enable them to select, purchase or order the selected products, goods and related services, as well as their payment and delivery or execution. If necessary for the execution of an order, we use service providers, in particular postal, forwarding and shipping companies, to carry out the delivery, or execution to our customers. For the processing of payment transactions, we use the services of banks and payment service providers. The required information is identified as such in the context of the order or comparable acquisition process and includes the information needed for delivery, or provision and billing, as well as contact information, so that any consultation can be held.

4. Newsletters and Emails

By registering, you agree that we may inform you about new messages in your internal mailbox, important information regarding your profile, users who have favorited you, new profiles in your area, news from Happy Puppy, or advertising offers from Happy Puppy and partners.

You can unsubscribe from unwanted notifications at any time in your notification settings. However, important personalized notifications related to your registration and profile can only be unsubscribed from by completely deregistering from Happy Puppy. A link to these settings can be found at the end of each newsletter. Logging in with your user data is required for this. Alternatively, you can also contact us.

Emails from Happy Puppy may contain tracking information, which is collected exclusively for statistical purposes. This includes data on opened emails, clicked links, date, and time. Happy Puppy also uses user data to decide whether an advertisement is of interest to a user and should be displayed in the email or on the website.

Amazon SES is used for sending email notifications, which requires forwarding the necessary information for sending the email.

5. Use of Cookies

A cookie is a text file that is temporarily or permanently stored on your hard drive and helps recognize you as a user and display the correct content for you. Most browsers are set to accept cookies, but they can also be turned off. However, this may result in not being able to use all services of our website.

Happy Puppy uses cookies to enable you to have a more personalized use of our website, to display targeted advertising, to determine which users were referred by other members or partners, or for statistical purposes. A cookie is also set so that you do not have to log in each time, unless you wish to log out after each visit.

7. Social Media Integrations

For communication through built-in functions of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.) that Happy Puppy participates in, the terms and privacy policies of the respective platform apply. The website uses plugins and buttons of these platforms to facilitate the sharing of information. The user is responsible for the information circulated through these means. If the user does not want social media platforms like Facebook or Twitter to associate the visit to the website with their social media account, they should log out of their social media accounts during the visit.

It is also possible to use Facebook Login for registration and logging in to our website. Here, data from your Facebook profile is exchanged with our website. The use of Facebook Connect is subject to Facebook's privacy and usage policies.

8. Publications on Third-Party Websites and Search Engines

The user agrees that their created profile may be shared and made public through external social media sites that Happy Puppy participates in. Furthermore, it is possible that your profile will be found through search engines. After deleting the profile, it may take several weeks before it can no longer be found through these search engines due to cache storage. However, the data will no longer be available on our website.

9. External Links and Advertising

This privacy policy applies exclusively to our website. The website also includes links to third-party websites. When external sites are linked, they are checked for possible legal violations. However, Happy Puppy has no influence on possible changes to the content of these sites and therefore assumes no liability for their content and data protection. If we become aware of a legal violation, these links will be removed immediately.

Happy Puppy may participate in various partner programs from Amazon, Zanox, Affilinet, Commission Junction, and Tradedoubler, which also store cookies. Furthermore, advertising banners may be displayed, operated by Google Adsense or other providers.

10. Data Access and Deletion

You have the right to request information, modification, or deletion of your data at any time. To do this, simply send an email through our contact form.

Alternatively, you can delete your profile and user data yourself. To delete your profile, go to your profile settings and click delete on the corresponding profile. After this process, you have not yet deleted your user account. You can do this yourself in the user data section, provided you have previously deleted all your created profiles. After that, all your data will be permanently removed.

11. Updates

Updates to the privacy policy can be made here at any time and replace the previous version. We recommend reading the conditions at each visit to the website to ensure that they continue to meet your approval. If you do not agree with this privacy policy, you are required to cease using the website's services and cancel your membership.
