Verena and Markus have four dogs. The latest arrival from the shelter didn’t get along well with the others at first. Dog sharing turned out to be the ideal solution to keep him and still maintain harmony.
Silke, a dedicated dog borrower with a full‑time job, can’t have her own dog right now. She’s happy she met the couple and their dog — it gets her outside more often again.
A dog with a story
Tigris is nine years old and joined Verena and Markus from the shelter about two years ago, after spending more than six years there. As a young dog he likely had an accident and needed surgery, which led to arthritis. Despite this, he remained an exceptionally friendly and joyful dog.
One special thing about Tigris: his ball. He already had it at the shelter and still carries it proudly everywhere today — he doesn’t destroy it, sleeps with it in his mouth and treats it like his greatest treasure.
Dog sharing as a rescue
Integrating Tigris into the existing pack was difficult. With four dogs in the house, tensions were inevitable. Thanks to Happy Puppy, Verena and Markus found a solution: dog sharing made it possible to keep Tigris without constant conflicts in the pack.
Silke — a sponsor with heart
This is where Silke came in. She works full‑time and can’t keep her own dog. Via Happy Puppy she met Verena, Markus and Tigris — an encounter that enriched her life. “I love dogs and had one in the past. It’s great to get outside again — even in the rain,” she says.
For her, Tigris is the perfect companion: easy‑going, people‑oriented and full of zest for life. He loves walks, attention and simply spending time with people.
A win for everyone
Whether dog owners or dog borrowers — everyone benefits from this special arrangement. Verena and Markus know Tigris is in good hands, Silke has a loyal companion for walks, and Tigris enjoys every extra dose of love, attention and freedom.
“We’re really lucky with Tigris,” says Verena. “He’s one of the few dogs who can be shared so easily — and he enjoys every minute he gets.”
People join Happy Puppy for many different reasons: to share a dog or to find someone who gladly spends time with a four‑legged friend without payment.
